Kristen Reed is an artist currently working in the Washington D.C. area. She earned the National Certificate in Visual Arts from the Irish Arts Council in 1999 and BA in Studio Art and Art History in 2000 from the University of Virginia. In 2003, she earned a MFA from Yale University. While at Yale she was the recipient of travel fellowships from the Yale Center for Global Studies and the American-Austrian Foundation. Kristen's work investigates complex systems, how they are created, how they function and how they break down. Her interests in systems led her to software development and exploring code as a tool for art making. Her current position as a software engineer informs her work as an artist.
